One of the latest internet crazes among adolescent girls today is the virtual dress-up doll site, Stardoll. The online game functions as a browser game and online community. Stardoll is based on the traditional game of dressing up paper dolls. At Stardoll, players are allowed to create their own dolls or ‘MeDoll’ or choose from a large collection of celebrity dolls or ‘Stardoll’.
Players can then dress the dolls up in a wide range of fashions, clothing and accessories. Each Stardoll has their own wardrobe of individual clothing and new dolls are released each week.
Stardoll is a mostly free online browser game to play and the majority of users are girls aged between 7 and 17. In some cases, members of Stardoll may wish to purchase additional clothes for the MeDoll or decorations for the MeDoll suite.
One criticism of the Stardoll game and online community is of the message shout out box displayed across the top of each page. While the website screens for swearwords, there is unfortunately still a great deal of adult-related concepts that are frequently being discussed on the website. Parents should be wary of the content and determine whether they believe it is appropriate for their children.
So love this game - my Halle Berri doll is the best!
