50 Years Of The Barbie Doll

The Barbie doll has remained a favourite girls toy for many years, and is a toy that continues to evolve. Barbie seems to adapt to the changes in society and there is always a new doll available. The Barbie doll is one toy that is not going to disappear any time soon.

Any young child will go through a doll, dressing up stage and Barbie is the one they seem to turn to. Marketed towards young girls, the Barbie doll has survived 50 years and to celebrate has released a new doll.

The bathing suit Barbie doll made her debut at Barbie’s 50th birthday celebrations and is a modernised version of the first Barbie doll made. The doll was made to pay tribute to the original doll but has a new twist. The 2009 bathing suit Barbie doll has a new face with a more natural look. This look includes a thinner jaw line, almond-shaped eyes, fuller lips and less make-up.

As Barbie is a reflection of the changing times, the latest bathing suit Barbie has a modern day swimsuit, differing from the original model. This Barbie has a two-piece black and white bikini, and of course doesn’t go without Barbie’s signature colour pink. She also has hoop earrings, high ponytail and one of the modern society’s must have technology- a mobile phone.
