Board games have provides hours of family fun for years, and they continue to be a popular toy for children of all ages. A board game was originally designed so that counters or pieces could be placed on, removed or moved across the board.

Monopoly- this game has entertained people of all ages. It is not a game just for kids and the aim is for you to go round the board and purchases ‘properties’ for sale. The game is named after the economic concept monopoly- the domination of the market by a single entity. This game provides anticipation, strategies, fun, maths skills and entertainment all in one.
Trivial pursuit- this game is more for the adults, but there are children’s versions available. Based on trivia questions, the aim is to move around the board, answering a range of trivia questions. If you get the answer correct and keep playing you will get a coloured chip for each category. The person with all the chips in the ‘pie’ wins the game.
Scrabble- this word game is designed to make you think about words and improve your spelling. Two to Four players can play the game. The aim is to from words from individual letters you get dealt. The letter tiles form the words once you place them on the board. You can form words across or down the board, and the words must appear in the standard dictionary.
